Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

With Pentecost taking place last Sunday, it is fitting that our Yr. 6 students will receive the sacrament Confirmation at Holy Family Church tonight.

Just like at Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles 50 days after the death of Jesus, in the sacrament of Confirmation, we receive the same Holy Spirit. We too, receive the same graces, virtues, gifts, courage, and strength the Apostles received 2,000 years ago. Simply put, Confirmation is the Gift of Strength; it “strengthens the divine life within us.”

After Confirmation, our students will be challenged to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which have been confirmed in them, to produce the fruits of the Holy Spirit in their lives. By using these gifts, students will see the fruits as virtues and graces in their lives, including charity, generosity, joy, gentleness, peace, faithfulness, patience, modesty, kindness, chastity, self-control, and goodness. Please keep our students in your thoughts and prayers this week.

Retirement and Resignations

I wrote earlier in the week to announce the retirement of Mrs Lisa Conroy after a long and distinguished career in service of the school. I thank Lisa for her contribution to the school and lasting legacy. We will still see Lisa in a relief teaching capacity in the future.

This morning I wrote to the parents of 5 Ngadyung to announce the resignation of Mr Tom Johnson from the end of Term 2 2022. Tom has accepted a job in his hometown of Orange and will be closer to friends and family. We thank Tom for his service to the school community over the last 2 years.

I also announced to staff yesterday the resignation of Mr Ashley Day, a valued member of the Learning Support team. Ashley has accepted a job as a Mental Health Support Worker, which aligns closely with his chosen field of study, Psychology. We also thank Ashley for his service to the community.

I will write to announce the appointment of staff in the coming weeks once they have been sourced.

Reports and PT Interviews

With the end of the semester fast approaching, teachers are preparing reports for Semester 1, 2022. Similar to last year, the reports will not feature a general comment, and in its place will be a 15-minute Parent-Teacher Interview in Week 10.

This interview will focus on Key successes/Areas of Improvement across curriculum areas and Challenges/Future Goals for your children. You will book directly with your child’s teacher via the Compass Parent Portal. Bookings will go live at 3 pm Thursday 16th June and close Sunday 26th June.

The PT interviews will take place from Monday 27th June- to Wednesday 29th June with Monday night being our late evening. If you are affected by Covid and unable to make the times offered, please contact your class teacher via email to discuss an alternate arrangement. Student reports will be released via the Compass Parent Portal on Friday, 24th June.

Baby News

Mrs Sarah Lehmensich has had a baby girl Sophie Rose born happy and healthy on Friday 3rd June. We wish the Lehmensich family all the best as they enjoy this beautiful time together as a family.

Blessings and best wishes.
