RE News Week 9

Holy Week Prayer Invitation to Parents and Friends

As Easter is celebrated this year in the holiday, we will be celebrating this most significant time in the Christian Calendar next Thursday April 11th.  In preparation for Easter, each year level has created a prayer focus highlighting one concept connected to Jesus’ journey from Palm Sunday to His Resurrection.  During next Thursday April 11th each class will process through the prayer stations to reflect and pray. Your child’s teacher can tell you their time. The whole school community will gather at 2:20 pm in the Peace Garden to focus on how God’s love is experienced in our lives. You are welcome to join the prayer procession during the day or to come after lunch to celebrate with us.

Mass reflections from Year 5 Mass

Love is the greatest commandment - the one that all the others are based on.  Show God’s love to others. Morgan

Mass gave me time to think about the special people in my life and how lucky I am. Felicity

You don't need things to be loved. Lachie

Father spoke about how you should love everyone and be friends with everyone. Nathan M

Our Mass theme today was 'the greatest of these is love'. When someone asked, ‘What is the greatest commandment?” ’Jesus answered, 'to love your neighbour as you love yourself and to love God with all your soul, heart and strength. Caleb

I learnt that the most important commandment was to love your friends, neighbours, your brothers and your sisters as yourself. Mitch

We remember Jesus as he died on the cross for us. The second most important commandment is to love everyone as yourself.  Sean

‘Values and beliefs that influence decision-making’ links to our study in RE. Father Praveen told how he gives chocolate to his niece and asks her "How much do you love me?" She says "This much", stretching out her arms, like Jesus did when he died on the cross. Liam

Our Year 5 Mass theme was "The greatest of these is love" and how the greatest two commandments are to love the Lord with all your heart and to love your neighbour as yourself. The Gospel and the Prayers of the Faithful relate to what we are learning in class as we wrote them ourselves. In every song we chose to sing, the word love was said as we know love is the greatest.  Madison

We held our Mass in the school Peace Garden with the whole of Grade 5 and some parents and grandparents. My favourite part was the last song at the end called "Alive". We sang and clapped.  Luca
