Principal's News Week 7
Dear Families,
Front Office Refurbishment
We have finally made our way back to the Front office with our newly refurbished offices. Although there are still many boxes to unpack, we are extremely grateful for our new workspaces and are pleased with the new design. It has been a long time since we moved into the temporary locations and are appreciative of everyone’s patience and ability to adapt to the not-ideal conditions. The wait has certainly been worth it.
There are still some minor fixes to be completed but we would like to thank our Architects from Munns, Sly and Moore, Bob Sly and Jess Straw along with the builders from Total Project Construction led by Reg Magyar for the excellent design and craftsmanship of this new building. A special thanks to Catholic Education for funding this project. We are truly blessed.
Year 6 Camp
Two weeks ago, our Year Six students left for camp at Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre. This was a very exciting time for our Year 6 students who lost the opportunity to go on camp last year due to Covid. This time away early in the year gave all students and staff an opportunity to further develop relationships and to participate in challenging and team-building group exercises. Our students were a credit to the school and their families. Thank you students!
I would like to thank Miss Rachel Southwell, Mr Steve Joyce, Mrs Michelle Marshall, Mrs Reedy and Mr Jeff Alcock who also accompanied our students for four days and three nights. Thank you so much to all - without your commitment and support, our students could not attend such events.
I was overwhelmed with the positive comments, both from the camp staff and from the teachers, about the behaviour our students displayed throughout their time away. They truly are exceptional leaders of our school.
Year 5 Assembly, Bullying – No Way!
The Year 5 children have been busy preparing for their assembly tomorrow. This will see us back in the hall for the first time in 12 months to participate in a celebration of our students’ efforts. Please know that due to access to space and Covid restrictions, we will only be able to have parents from this grade attend. It is a ticketed event and those with tickets will need to check in with the Check-In Canberra app.
Community Council
We are still looking for parents to nominate for our Community Council. At this stage we have had no nominations for our new treasurer. If you feel you have some finance experience and would like to undertake this role please email me as soon as possible. The first 6 months will be shadowing our current treasurer, whilst learning the role.
The role is not too arduous, attending only 2 meetings a term and completing a few minor financial tasks.
Spice Playgroup
Our Spice Playgroup started back 2 weeks ago with many families taking the opportunity to come in and meet new parents. Our playgroup runs on Monday mornings and is open to all parents or carers with under school age children. We currently have children ranging in age form 4 moths to 4 years old. Liz Poynter, our playgroup coordinator is super excited in having more people attend.
