Principal's News Week 3
Dear Families
COVID-19
St Francis of Assisi Primary School and Catholic Education continue to take advice from health authorities in relation to COVID-19. The Catholic Education Office has a team that is actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it develops, paying particular attention to local hotspots and organising support for schools where required. St Francis is practising all safe hygiene practices in line with government advice. We understand that the situation is fairly fluid, and we will communicate directly with you should there be any important changes in relation to our school operations in the coming weeks.
Our staff are prepared if we need to implement remote learning.
We remind all families that if your child is unwell, please keep them home from school. This is for their benefit and the benefit of staff and students at school.
Please ensure that anyone who presents with COVID-19 symptoms in your family is tested. We request that all parents and visitors sign into the CBR Check In App upon arrival at the school.
Staffing News
A letter was sent home on Wednesday afternoon through SZAPP announcing that I have been appointed as Principal of Holy Family Primary School from the beginning of the 2022 school year. Although I am very excited about this new challenge, I am also very sad to be leaving St Francis of Assisi. Having said that, I still have 6 months left and have lots to accomplish in that time. I thank all those who have emailed me wishing me their very best.
Hats Back on from Monday!
Just a reminder that ACT SunSmart guidelines state that all ACT school students must wear hats from August to the end of May. It is time to dig out that hat which has been at the bottom of the bag or under the bed at home. Thanks for your support with this. A copy of the Sun-Protection Policy is available on our website. Hats are available for purchase at the front office at a cost of $20.00 per hat. Savvy Schoolwear also stock our school hats.
Athletics Carnival in Week 5
A reminder that our athletics carnival will be held at Calwell Playing Fields on Thursday 12 August. Information about the Athletcis Carnival was sent via SZAPP yesterday and is also in this newsletter in case you missed it.
For this day to be successful, we need assistance from our parents. Please consider volunteering on this day.
Book Week is in Week 7
Our annual Book Week parade will take place on Monday 23 August, in couple of weeks. Don’t forget to organise your costume. We do ask that parents don’t go to too much trouble. A simple costume is more than enough.
Peace and Best Wishes
