Dear Families,
Another week of lockdown completed, and another week of remote teaching and learning done! We are hoping that things improve, and we are back to some sort of ‘normal’ in the new term. A reminder that the Chief Minister will make a decision about what will happen to schooling in Term 4 during the first week of the school holidays. We will communicate to you with specific information following this announcement.
I am extremely appreciative of our teachers and staff who are working so hard to deliver a rigorous and meaningful academic remote learning program. They have had to be extremely agile and adaptive in ensuring that our young people are engaged with their learning in a completely different way. I am so proud of our students, too, who are not only concerned about being away from their friends, normal routines and the uncertainty of the pandemic, but have adapted well to remote learning. It is a pleasure for me to ‘pop in’ and visit remote classrooms and seeing our students engaged and happy in this new way of learning. Finally, a big thank you to our parents who are not only juggling remote learning and work from home but continue to support us in a way of teaching we never, ever imagined we would be doing. Thank you.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
I hope our Dads, Grandfathers and father figures had a very happy day last Sunday. Hopefully you were spoilt and had breakfast in bed! Thank you to all the students and families who sent in photos of themselves with their dads. The video montage of these photos is on Facebook.
SCHOOL REGISTRATION
Next week our school will undergo the registration process. This is usually a great celebration for schools. It is a chance to show all the wonderful programs that we offer and how strong we are as a school community. The normal process would involve receiving a report with commendations and recommendations for the future. Unfortunately, due to the lockdown, the school’s registration process will be a desk audit only, ensuring that the school is meeting its compliance obligations. I thank the teachers, especially Mrs Reedy, who have worked tirelessly, along with remote teaching, to ensure we are ready for this important process.
STUDENT NAPLAN REPORTS
Student Individual NAPLAN Reports have been delivered to school today. We will post these out to families as soon as possible. If you have not received your report before the commencement of next term, please do not hesitate to contact me.
COMPASS PARENT PORTAL
As previously advised, from Term 4, 2021 the Compass Parent Portal will be available for all parents/carers of students at St Francis of Assisi Primary School. We will be sending parents/carers their login credentials in Week 10 of Term 3. Please read the attached information sheet carefully. This details what the Parent Portal is, as well as instructions to download the Parent Portal to your devices or desktop.
It is essential that parents/carers download and access the Parent Portal from Term 4. Parents will be able to submit absences, view attendance records, give consent to excursions, update contact information, and importantly, access their child’s school report.
If you need to update your email address with us, ahead of sending out your login credentials, please email office.stfranciscalwell@cg.catholic.edu.au by Monday 13 September.
We look forward to starting the Compass Parent Portal journey with you!

Please see the attached flyer with important information about screen time during remote learning.
