Dear Families
END OF YEAR EVENTS
Next week will see us hold what little ‘end of year’ events that we can have.
We will be having our Farewell Mass on Wednesday. This will be combined with the handing over ceremony along with farewells to staff and students who are leaving us at the end of the year. Unfortunately, due to restrictions parents are unable to attend this event.
Thursday will be our Kinder Nativity. This will be held for just our Kindergarten children and parents. We are unable to have the rest of the school attend this event however a recording will be made so the rest of the school can watch it at a different time.
We will have our Meet and Greet on Friday afternoon however, weather permitting this will be held outside.
I am sure you understand that with the current restrictions in place, we have had to make sure that all our events are covid safe and adhere to the current health orders. We are trying to ensure that all events are finalised by Week 10. Ensuring Christmas is a happy time for all families is our biggest priority.
KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION
This week we conducted our Kinder Orientation sessions after school. Although very different from our usual way of doing things, our new students arrived very excited to meet their new teacher and see their classroom.
A big thank you to our kinder team for organising such a great afternoon.
CLASSES 2022
We are still in the process of finalising our teachers for 2022. These will be announced in next week’s newsletter.
A GOOD NEWS STORY
Charlie Brown, Year 5 Ngadyung, took the initiative and started his own fundraising project raising funds for Ronald McDonald House. He wrote a letter and delivered it to all the houses in his local neighbourhood and to the sports clubs that he was involved in, asking people to donate their 10c recycles. Every 2nd Tuesday he sets off with his trolley and collects all the recycling and then makes a big trip to the deposit centre. To date he has raised over $500 for Ronald McDonald house. He then takes that $$ and goes shopping for gifts for the children.
He has been featured in an online article and Ronald McDonald House invited him as their VIP guest at their Meet the Maker night at the Boathouse where they interviewed him in front of the crowd.
We are so very proud of you Charlie. What a wonderful and selfless thing you are doing for others. Well Done!
Peace and best wishes

First Eucharist
Congratulations to all our students who celebrated receiving Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time last week!
Thanks to our families and teachers who support them on their faith journey.
The Eucharist is very important and special to me because that is when Jesus enters my body spiritually. After I received Communion, I prayed the special prayer. I felt calm and peaceful. Peyton
When I went to the church, I was nervous at first. I found my seat and sat down then we said the prayers. Finally, the time came, and I stood up and walked towards Father Josh. I did everything and received the host and walked towards my dad. I was happy because I finally did it. I celebrated my First Eucharist! Daniel
It was important to me because I felt close to God, and it grew stronger and stronger. I was a bit nervous but then felt calmed. Mia

Unexplained Absences in Compass
We ask that you add an 'attendance note' to explain any unexplained absences for your child within the Compass Parent Portal.
To add an attendance note, please follow these instructions:
- You will be notified on the right hand side My News for any outstanding unexplained absences/late for their child.
- By clicking Click here for more information parents are taken to a new page displaying all unexplained absences or late for their child.
- To explain an absence or late for their child the parent must click the check box to the left side of the absence they wish to explain and then the Explain with Attendance Note button.
- The Attendance Note Editor Box is generated and parents select a Reason for the absence/late and write any supporting comments.
- It has now turned an unexplained absence/late into an explained absence/late.
Alternatively you can email the school office.stfranciscalwell@cg.catholic.edu.au with details of any absences and we can add these for you.
