Harry Laing
St Francis students are looking forward to having Harry Laing visit the school next Monday 19th August, as part of our Book Week celebrations. Throughout the day he will be speaking with all students from preschool to Year 6 about his books and writing. He comes highly recommended as an engaging and motivating speaker who encourages children to love reading and writing. If you are interested in purchasing his books to read with your child, click on the following link: https://harrylaing.com.au/workshops/shop/

The 5/6 boys’ basketball talent was on display at our last basketball hurrah for the year at the Jamie Pearlman Cup on Thursday at Tuggeranong stadium. Our 4 teams rose to the challenge, giving it their all against some tough competition. All teams had some wins and losses, or some draws. The Year 6 Blue team, coached by Mitch Slingsby and Erin Steele, made it to the quarter final after 3 straight wins, although after winning the Quarter had to go right back on for the semi against Gowrie, who came away with the win. The boys put up a fantastic fight and showed great perseverance and determination. All the boys had a great time on and off court, played their best, tried new things and displayed excellent sportsmanship. Well done to all the boys! We are very proud of you!
We are very grateful to Mitch, Erin Steele, Clare Way and Mrs Way for coaching on the gala day and training the boys this term. Thanks to Mrs Thomas and parents who were able to help on bench and support the boys at the gala day. Thanks parents and kids for being at the stadium ready for our early 8am games! Once again, a huge thank you to Erin and Mrs McArthur for their tremendous behind the scenes organisation, and for all their hard work to give more kids the opportunity to play more sport.
Weekend Netball Wrap up - Round 9
Year 4 Lightning are having a great season! They continue to improve their netball skills and support each other with excellent teamwork.
Last weeks award winners from round 9 were Lily Hunter and Georgia Ball. Well done girls on being good sports and playing well!
Each fortnight we will share some of our Child Safety tips. Please have a read and reach out to Mrs Annie McArthur, the school Child Safe Advocate, if needed.
