Our Fete Day is tomorrow! We are looking forward to a successful community event and we ask that if you haven't already, please volunteer to assist on a stall.
Head to SZAPP and sign up to help.
Many thanks to our wonderful fete sponsors for 2019:
Fete - Pickup Arrangements Tomorrow
A reminder that changed pickup arrangements are in place for fete day tomorrow.
Please read the information below carefully and ensure your children know how they are being picked up tomorrow!
We would like to remind all families to park legally on Fete evening tomorrow.
The ACT Government has been patrolling community events such as these, and issuing fines to drivers who have parked illegally.
Please do the right thing and spend your money at the fete, not on fines!
Community Council Elections - Nominations closing tomorrow!
A reminder that nominations for the St Francis of Assisi Community Council close at 3.00pm tomorrow, Friday 22 November 2019.
Due to constitutional requirements, six positions on the Executive of the Community Council are vacant from 2020. We are therefore calling for nominations – any parent in the school community is eligible to nominate.
What Does the Community Council do?
The Community Council works with the Principal, Parish Priest, staff and parish within the mission of Catholic education to develop and monitor policies and procedures in the running of the school. This includes monitoring the school-based budget, setting internal policies, promoting the school and ensuring maintenance and upkeep of the school assets. Meetings are held twice a term.
How to Nominate
Each nomination must be made on the attached form. The nomination must be seconded and agreed to by the person being nominated. If more than six nominations are received, an election will be held. If only six nominations are received, those people will be declared elected. The persons will be elected for a two-year term.
All nominations are confidential. Attached below is a Community Council Nomination Form' and hard copies will be sent home to all families.
Please send nominations addressed to Mrs Kate Markcrow in a sealed envelope labelled ‘Community Council Nomination’ by 3pm on Friday, 22nd November 2019. All nominations will be placed in a sealed box and will be opened by Father James, our Parish Priest and myself. If you require further information, please feel free to contact me at school on 6292 4500. I encourage parents to consider this important role within the school.
Reminder - BYOD Information Night - Monday 25 November
A reminder to all parents that there is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) information night being held at 6.00pm on Monday 15 November in the school library.
All parents are welcome to attend, and we particularly encourage all parents of Year 3 students heading into Year 4 next year to attend.
The BYOD information letter is attached below.
Kindergarten Orientation Morning - Tuesday 26 November
We will once again welcome our 2020 Kindergarten students to St Francis of Assisi Primary School on Tuesday 26 November from 9.30am - 11.00am.
This session follows on from the first orientation morning held last week, and is another opportunity for these new students to spend some time with their teachers and class mates for next year.
Sacrament of Reconciliation - Thursday 28 November
First Reconciliation for St Francis of Assisi students will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Castleton Crescent, Gowrie, next Thursday 28 November at 6:30pm
Dear families
A reminder that Term 4 fees are due for payment next Friday 29 November 2019. If you are unable to pay your account by this date, please let me know so that alternative arrangements may be made.
2020 school fees are under review and will be communicated to all families later in the term once they are approved by the Community Council. This will also include a fee calculation sheet so you can work out your fees for next year.
If you have any school fee related queries, please send me an email susan.rowell@cg.catholic.edu.au or give me a call on 6292 4500 I am in the office from Tuesday to Friday each week.
