We have noticed that our morning drop-off is getting later and later. Our drop-off lane opens at 8:30am and it is very quiet, with no queues until around 8:45am. For those families who would like to use the drop-off lane we ask that you try and arrive a little earlier. There is a lot of congestion on Casey Cres from about 8:50am. Our school day starts at 8:55am and we are losing 15 valuable minutes from our Literacy block each morning with late arrivals.
Please know that our teacher on duty out the front needs to leave the driveway at 8:55am to get to their class. Lately we have had to supplement this duty with our Front Office staff and school executive.
From Monday we will no longer be able to do this. We will close the drop-off lane at 8:55am and families that are still arriving will need to go to the school carpark, walk their child/ren to the Front office and sign their children in.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
While the clothing pool will not be re-opening this term, if you are in need of any items please send an email to office.stfranciscalwell@cg.catholic.edu.au and your order will be filled if possible and sent home with your eldest child. You will be informed of the amount owing and we ask that all payments be made by QKR!
We are accepting donations of second hand uniforms for the clothing pool. If you have any pre-loved uniforms in good condition that you are willing to donate to the school, please bring these to the front office.
All proceeds from the sale of second hand uniforms go to the Community Council.
Thank you for your support.
With the easing of restrictions the parish office has had a number of enquiries regarding enrolling for Confirmation, First Eucharist & First Reconciliation. These sacraments will not be celebrated this year & remain postponed until 2021. Further information will be available through schools and the Parish website and bulletin later in the year.

Updated public transport timetables from 18 July 2020
From Saturday 18 July 2020, Transport Canberra will be updating timetables for bus services.
These changes will help make public transport in Canberra easier to use by providing more services and increased frequency, to ensure that people have greater opportunity to spread out their travel across the day as we recover from COVID-19.
Transport Canberra has worked closely with the school community and we are providing increased frequency and additional services for school students across Canberra.
As a new timetable is being introduced, there will be minor changes for all students travelling to and from school on public transport across Canberra from the first day of Term 3, 2020 (Monday 20 July 2020). In most cases, this will mean that students will catch the same service from the same stop, but the times that services arrive and leave may change.
In addition, Transport Canberra has made the following changes:
Extension of school route 2079 through Calwell
- From Term 3, school route 2079 will be extended to make it easier for students from Calwell to use public transport to get to Calwell Primary, St Francis of Assisi Primary, Calwell High and Theodore Primary.
- This service will now start on Duggan St close to Tharwa Drive, with additional stops close to where many students at these schools live.
There will be no changes to school route 2079 during Term 2, 2020.
All schools, parents and students can find out more about the specific changes by:
- checking the information packs for each school, which are online at www.transport.act.gov.au
- checking timetables for each route (including school specials), which are online at www.transport.act.gov.au
- calling 13 17 10
The St Francis of Assisi information pack is available here:
Several parents are expressing their frustration, when they have gone to the trouble of labelling their child’s jumper and hat, and it now cannot be found.
We ask that all parents check that their child is wearing items belonging to them.
If you find that you have someone else’s jumper or hat at home, please return it to the school so it can be returned to its rightful owner.
