Dear Families
A special greeting to all our fathers, grandfathers and special people in our community who celebrate Father’s Day this weekend. I am sure you are all looking forward to celebrating this Sunday with your families, starting with a scrumptious breakfast in bed.
Unfortunately we are not able to celebrate together due to Covid-19 but we will celebrate as a community with a special Father’s Day montage that will be published on Facebook on Sunday. If anyone has a photo they would like to share please ensure you email it through by COB today (Thursday).
Canteen News
It is sad news that both Jo Summerfield and Sue Lever have decided to resign their positions as Canteen Managers. Both Jo and Sue have been a long-standing members of our school community - Jo starting in 2005 and Sue in 2007. I would like to publicly thank both Jo and Sue for their dedication and support of the school over their many years of service and wish them both well in their future endeavours.
The canteen will close after the lunch time service on Thursday 17 September and will hopefully re-open in Term 4 after we recruit a new canteen manager. Please note that the canteen will not be open on Friday 18, Thursday 24 or Friday 25 September.
If you are interested in the position or know of someone who may be interested, please direct them to the Catholic Education website:
Alternatively you can contact me directly kate.markcrow@cg.catholic.edu.au.

Along with this the children will also have a Mini Olympics day on Tuesday and a retreat day for their Confirmation on Thursday next week. I hope the children enjoy themselves and have a fun week of activities next week. A special thanks to the Year 6 teachers for organising this great initiative.

1N Class Mass
Thank you to Father Andrew who celebrated a beautiful Mass with 1 Ngadyung in their classroom this week.
Here are some of the children’s reflections:
Fr Andrew told us about when Jesus was a little boy. Lana
He taught us about life in the time of Jesus and how things have changed. Ben
Jesus got lost on the way from Jerusalem so Mary and Joseph were very worried. Rory
Jesus’ mum and dad went looking for him. Elyna
When they found him in the temple, Jesus said, “Why were you looking for me? I’m in my father’s house.” Ranjodh
I liked our class Mass. I learned a lot from Father Andrew. Josh
Confirmation Information
We are looking forward to Confirmation Masses for St Francis of Assisi Year 6 students which will be celebrated on Thursday 24th September at 5.30 pm and 7:00 pm. There will be about 15 student candidates at each Mass. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 100 people can attend each Mass. This includes those officiating at the Mass. Therefore, each family can have up to 5 members attending which includes the student. Families have been asked to contact Gail Walker at Corpus Christi Parish directly on 6291 6688 or Tuggeranong.Sacraments@cg.org.au with the number of people attending for their family.
Some students also urgently need to advise the Parish of their saint’s name and their sponsor ASAP.
Parents are requested to send in their ‘Hopes and Dreams Letter’ to school, addressed with their child’s name and class on the envelope please as these are now overdue.
A big thank you to Father James for spending time with our Confirmation students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation with him yesterday in the Peace Garden. Congratulations to Oliver Ploesser on celebrating his First Reconciliation!
All Year Six students are looking forward to their Retreat Day here at school next Thursday. Students will participate in a range of opportunities to deepen their understanding of Catholic scripture and community values. They will read the ‘Hopes and Dreams’ letters from their parents on this day.
Vinnies Winter Appeal
Members of our local Calwell St Vincent de Paul gratefully received over a hundred boxes of food items generously donated by our wonderful St Francis of Assisi Primary families!
Thanks to all the Mini Vinnies students who promoted this Appeal and carried all the donations to the Calwell Presbytery this week. Vinnies directly support people in our local community who are doing it tough by delivering food packs to local homes.
Happy Fathers’ Day to all our wonderful dads and grandads!
