COVID-19
With the current outbreak of COVID-19 and restrictions, all of our worlds are being affected. During these times of uncertainty we may all be experiencing increased anxiety. For parents, children may be experiencing anxiety but also may be asking some tricky questions. If you are unsure how to best support your child, here a few quick tips you can try.
- Reassure them that they are safe
- Let them talk about their worries
- Share your own coping skills
- Limit their news exposure
- Create a routine and structure
- Talk in age appropriate terms
There are some great free resources available if you are needing a little more support. Check out the Australian Childhood Foundation, they have great resources available ranging from story books about wearing masks to dealing with the uncertainty of daily life. There are also some activity ideas for families to stay connected. Here is the link:
Beyond Blue also have some great tips for parents on how to talk with their children about COVID-19. If you want more information on this, check out the link below:

Dear Parents and Carers within our community,
Thank you to all of you who email, ring, come to parent teacher meetings and assist us in our process of providing equal access to education. Our Personal Plans (PPs) are evidence of this and I believe our focus on equal education is benefitting our students.
On Friday the 25 the June, Catholic Education has asked all schools to finalise their PPs, ready for the Federal Government’s August Census. Part of the transparency of this process, is for parents and carers to be notified of this event. This data identifies funding needs for our school which is why it is important that information is collated and submitted to the Federal Government.
I would like to thank all of the teachers of St Francis for their diligence in implementing the right support for students and for gathering evidence. It is a HUGE job, but we are happy to assist all our students where and when they need it.
Wishing you a great break from lunches over the holidays.
Warm Regards,
Karen Western
