Dear Families
COVID-19
St Francis of Assisi Primary School and Catholic Education continue to take advice from health authorities in relation to COVID-19. The Catholic Education Office has a team that is actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it develops, paying particular attention to local hotspots and organising support for schools where required. St Francis is practising all safe hygiene practices in line with government advice. We understand that the situation is fairly fluid, and we will communicate directly with you should there be any important changes in relation to our school operations in the coming weeks.
Our staff are prepared if we need to implement remote learning.
We remind all families that if your child is unwell, please keep them home from school. This is for their benefit and the benefit of staff and students at school.
Please ensure that anyone who presents with COVID-19 symptoms in your family is tested. We request that all parents and visitors sign into the CBR Check In App upon arrival at the school.
Staffing News
A letter was sent home on Wednesday afternoon through SZAPP announcing that I have been appointed as Principal of Holy Family Primary School from the beginning of the 2022 school year. Although I am very excited about this new challenge, I am also very sad to be leaving St Francis of Assisi. Having said that, I still have 6 months left and have lots to accomplish in that time. I thank all those who have emailed me wishing me their very best.
Hats Back on from Monday!
Just a reminder that ACT SunSmart guidelines state that all ACT school students must wear hats from August to the end of May. It is time to dig out that hat which has been at the bottom of the bag or under the bed at home. Thanks for your support with this. A copy of the Sun-Protection Policy is available on our website. Hats are available for purchase at the front office at a cost of $20.00 per hat. Savvy Schoolwear also stock our school hats.
Athletics Carnival in Week 5
A reminder that our athletics carnival will be held at Calwell Playing Fields on Thursday 12 August. Information about the Athletcis Carnival was sent via SZAPP yesterday and is also in this newsletter in case you missed it.
For this day to be successful, we need assistance from our parents. Please consider volunteering on this day.
Book Week is in Week 7
Our annual Book Week parade will take place on Monday 23 August, in couple of weeks. Don’t forget to organise your costume. We do ask that parents don’t go to too much trouble. A simple costume is more than enough.
Peace and Best Wishes

Minni Vinnies Thank You!
On Wednesday, all the Mini Vinnies students collected your food donations for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. We filled up many boxes with all the donations and took them over to the Corpus Christi Parish room at Calwell. We sorted all the food into categories and helped put them on benches and away on the shelves.

Term 3 fee statements were sent via email to all families in Week 1. If you haven't received your fee statement, please email me susan.rowell@cg.catholic.edu.au so I can send you a new one, or update your email address if required.
Building Fund statements for the 2020/21 Financial year have also been sent to all families. These statements show the amount you contributed to the Canberra Catholic Schools Building Fund (CCSBF) for the 2020/21 Financial Year. This amount is tax deductible. You would not have received one of these statements if you don't contribute to the CCSBF at St Francis of Assisi Primary School.
For any fee related queries please give me a call in the office or email me susan.rowell@cg.catholic.edu.au and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I'm in the office from 8.30-3.00 Monday to Thursday and 8.30-3.30pm on Fridays.
Kind regards
Susan Rowell

Dear Parents and Carers within our community,
Thank you to all of you who email, ring, come to parent teacher meetings and assist us in our process of providing equal access to education. Our Personal Plans (PPs) are evidence of this and I believe our focus on equal education is benefitting our students.
On Friday the 25 the June, Catholic Education has asked all schools to finalise their PPs, ready for the Federal Government’s August Census. Part of the transparency of this process, is for parents and carers to be notified of this event. This data identifies funding needs for our school which is why it is important that information is collated and submitted to the Federal Government.
I would like to thank all of the teachers of St Francis for their diligence in implementing the right support for students and for gathering evidence. It is a HUGE job, but we are happy to assist all our students where and when they need it.
Wishing you a great break from lunches over the holidays.
Warm Regards,
Karen Western
Learning Support
Keep our kids safe at sporting events.
Play by the rules when parking at ovals and sporting venues.
Parking inspectors will be patrolling local sporting events throughout the year to keep our future athletes and Olympians safe - break the rules and you risk a fine.
Don’t park on footpaths, across driveways, no stopping zones, no parking zones, bus zones or in disabled parking spaces.
Can’t find a park? Be a sport, park legally and venture further afield. You’ll be keeping us all safe and it will be good for your fitness too!
Please also remember to treat our parking inspectors with respect. Like umpires on the field, they are enforcing the rules to keep us all safe.
To report unsafe and illegal parking call 13 22 81 or visit www.act.gov.au/illegalparking
